Babies. Toddlers. Sink urination. Babies covered
in poop. Babies, babies, and more babies. This is what you get
with Baby Mama, plus a couple jokes added in for spice. Tina
Fey (yum) plays a single, savvy business woman who desperately
wants to be a mother. Unfortunately, her t-shaped uterus prevents
her from conceiving a child the good ol' fashioned way, and
adoption takes way too long. This leaves her with the expensive
option of surrogacy. In pops former SNL cast mate Amy Poehler.
From here on out it's like a modern day Odd Couple with a bizarre
feminine twist. Fey is a smart, sophisticated woman with years
of preparation and motivation, while Poehler is, well, for lack
of a better term, white-trash. Hilarity ensues. Or at least
it would if Fey had been an active writer instead of, or in
addition to, the lead actress. The cast for this film was actually
quite good. Fey and Poehler are very funny, and are even better
together than they are apart. Then, as with every movie with
an SNL cast member as the lead, they're accompanied by many
more. Will Forte, Fred Armisen, and Steve Martin are just a
few of the extras you'll see. Or maybe that's all of them. Regardless,
this should have been much funnier than it was. Enormous potential,
average outcome. It deserves at least 5 minutes of uninterrupted
eye contact.
